Attrape-Rêves review: lychee, peony and dark cocoa

Published

10 ml glass atomizer filled with Attrape-Rêves Eau de Parfum

Attrape-Rêves – French for “dreamcatcher” – is an Eau de Parfum created by Louis Vuitton’s in-house perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud. It is one of the most talked-about scents in the collection, and not by accident.

The opening: sparkling lychee

The first spray is juicy and bright. Lychee brings a sweet, slightly tart fruitiness that feels light and playful rather than sugary.

The heart: peony and patchouli

After a few minutes a soft, rosy peony appears, grounded by earthy patchouli. This is where the scent gains the depth and elegance people love it for.

The base: dark cocoa

The drydown is the signature: a powdery dark cocoa that makes the whole scent warm, sensual and a little addictive – without turning into a dessert.

When to wear it

  • Evenings, dates and special occasions.
  • Autumn and winter, cooler spring evenings.
  • Anyone who likes fruity-floral scents with a warm, gourmand finish.

Longevity and sillage

On most skin it lasts well into the evening and leaves a noticeable but not overwhelming trail. As with any perfume, longevity depends on your skin – which is exactly why it is worth wearing it for a few weeks before buying the full bottle.

Our verdict

Attrape-Rêves is a luxurious, sensual scent that feels special without shouting. If you like it on a paper strip, you will probably fall for it on skin – and a 10 ml decant is the best way to find out.
